NYX Professional Makeup Matte Finish Setting Spray Review

There’s nothing I love more than beauty on a budget, especially when a product is actually worth way more than the price tag.

Being a blogger sometimes requires us to attend multiple events in a single day.  It’s important to make sure the makeup we put on in the morning still looks good when we get home at night. The issue of a look that doesn’t last can easily be avoided by simply spritzing setting spray over the top of your makeup, keeping everything in place.  A spray like this is crucial for people with oily skin, as makeup has a tendency to slide when the surface is more oily.  One of the biggest trends on the runway this season was matte finish, spanning every beauty category from lips, to eyes and even to hair.

When I found this beautiful combination of a setting spray with a matte finish, I was hooked. The NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray leaves skin with an airbrushed effect. Simply pump a few sprays onto the face after your makeup is applied, use your finger to lightly dab it in or use a foundation brush to settle it, and you’re ready to go. It’s a lightweight, water-based setting spray that shields your fresh look from things like sweat and air pollution.  You won’t have to keep reapplying makeup and you can quit worrying about shine. A matte finish look without the fear of makeup running down the face? Yes, Please!

Your favorite setting spray might be humidity- and sweat-proof, but a makeup lover just took things to the next level with a viral review. According to one Ulta shopper, the Nyx Professional Makeup Matte Finish Setting Spray keeps your makeup in place through literally anything.

In a review left on the heavy-duty product’s Ulta page on August 6, 2017, Sofia from Texas gave the setting spray a full five stars and explained the unbelievable ordeal that assured her of the product’s high quality. The review, which is titled, “I was hit by a car (this is true),” reads, “I was hit by a car and through the hit itself, the rain, the ambulance ride, and the hours in the hospital my makeup stayed completely intact the entire time. When I was discharged from the hospital I had to take off my makeup and none of it had moved. if this setting spray can survive being hit by a car then that’s all the proof I need and I’ll definitely be buying it again.”

Twitter users quickly discovered the review and it went viral as many shared their reactions to the unusual story, as well as their own success stories with the NYX product. “My go-to drugstore setting spray but like lowkey @ person who wrote this review, u good?” and “NYX matte setting spray is like superglue.”

Now, I’ve been testing this setting spray for months and I simply love it. I have a combination skin type with my T-zone being oily. After a few hours of makeup, my face gets oily and shiny and that ain’t my highlighter. I usually use the setting spray when I have done heavier makeup and I want it to last without requiring any touch-ups. After applying my makeup, I use the setting spray by keep a distance of suggested 6 inches from the face and spray. It takes 2- 3 spritz to cover my forehead, cheeks and jaw. Usually, the spritz works okay and I have a mist fall on my face. Even though the mist is liquid as soon as it falls on my face, the mist immediately evaporates without smudging my makeup.

I love the fact that the matte effect that this setting spray promises, isn’t too drying. It feels refreshing and hydrating. After applying my foundation, concealer, and bronzer, I don’t apply any makeup setting powder anymore as it gives a very cakey and dry look. Thanks to this setting spray, I have substituted the makeup setting powder with this setting spray and it gives a more natural look to my overall makeup.
