Foreo Luna Mini 2 Facial Cleansing Brush Petal Pink

In my opinion, everyone should have a facial cleansing tool – whether it is a simple washcloth, a brush or any device that helps to exfoliate and better remove your makeup or any skincare product buildups. Of course, cleansing with your hands is fine but if you want to take your skincare to the next level then a cleansing device can make a big difference.

Having said that, I will be the first to admit that I’ve never been a big fan of the face washing ritual. I know that sounds bad, but I’ve always thought it is such a hassle to have multiple cleansers and steps, wash twice a day, etc. So when I was asked to try Foreo Luna Mini 2 Facial Cleansing Brush in Petal Pink color, an electric face brush that promises to eliminate blemishes and revolutionize the way you wash your face in just 1 minute twice a day, I was cautiously curious and apprehensive at the same time. I am happy to say that it was a game changer in my skincare routine indeed – I’ve been using the product for the past 2 weeks, and not only does my skin feel and look clearer, I actually now look forward to washing my face with the Luna Mini 2!

The two main options on the market are FOREO LUNA facial brushes or Clarisonic brushes. I haven’t used the Clarisonic brushes so I can’t really compare the two.

The FOREO LUNA Mini 2 retails for AED 630 at Namshi and comes in five colors but there is no difference between them and all are suitable for any type of skin.

How it works

I like to use the Foreo Luna Mini 2 with my face wash twice a day, and it only takes a minute for the cleaning cycle to be complete. The great thing about the Luna Mini 2 is that once turned on, it pulsates every time you are supposed to move to different part of your face – so starting from one side of the cheeks and chin to the other side, it will run for 15 seconds before it pulsates, indicating that you should move to the other side of your cheeks. I usually do my cheeks and chin first, then my forehead, then the sides of my nose and finish with under my eyes. One feature I like is that it lets you adjust the intensity of the pulsation with the +/- buttons to 8 different intensity levels, I usually keep it around the 4-6 and decrease slightly when I get to my eye area which is sensitive.

You can use it for more than one minute, but it actually switches off after 3 minutes. Once you have completed your cleansing routine, simply rinse your face with warm water and apply your favorite serum and moisturizer.

Next, the FOREO LUNA mini 2 has three different zones on the silicone brush surface, each of which has a different purpose:

General cleaning zone: This zone on the silicone brush is ideal for normal and sensitive skins because it has a smaller brush surface.

Deep cleansing zone: This zone is ideal for oily skin or combination skin because it has a slightly larger brush surface than the general cleansing zone. It’s on the backside of the brush where you put the charger.

Precision cleansing zone: This zone is perfect for those hard to exfoliate areas on your face, for example, the spots around your nose and around your mouth. This is on the tip of the brush.

With more than 1000 soft, tiny silicone bristles, the mini 2 creates up to 8000 pulsations each minute. So you can imagine how easy it is to remove all of the debris from your skin and perform a mini facial at home.

Controls: You have a round ON/OFF button in the center of the front face of the mini 2.

Intensities: You have eight different intensities and you can turn them up or down using the + or – buttons (on either side of the ON/OFF button on the front of the device), giving yourself a really customized cleanse. These intensities are easy to reach when you are using the mini 2, so changing intensities on different parts of your face is no problem.

Waterproof: The mini 2 is 100% waterproof, making it perfect to use in the shower or even your spa bath.

Recharging: You can use the USB charger to recharge your mini 2  in just 60 minutes, so it is perfect for when you are traveling as you can charge it from your computer. Don’t forget that you only have to recharge it once every 5 months and you can see how awesome this little cleansing device is!

LED lights: The mini 2 has a small LED light at the bottom, which turns on automatically when the power is ON and when you are recharging the device.

You can actually use the LUNA mini 2 with a serum as well, instead of a cleanser for an extra luxurious massage.

Don’t forget to rinse the mini 2 in warm water when you are finished and just let it air dry. This is a quick and easy at home microdermabrasion and cleansing routine that you can do every day to keep your skin in tip-top shape.

The key is to massage your favorite cleanser into your face first and then use the mini 2 to add a more powerful and super effective cleansing to your skin.

My Experience

I have used everything possible to cleanse my face, be it a washcloth, a cheaper Chinese silicone tool & also a face Cleansing brush that came with Pond’s face wash (which is pretty decent). The face cleansing brush was good but sometimes the bristles hurt my skin maybe because my skin is very sensitive so I could use it only twice a week. When I got the FOREO Luna Mini 2, I was really excited to try it for myself, in fact, I am still in love with it.

Unlike cleansing brushes with bristles, the Foreo Luna Mini 2 is as gentle as possible, you literally can’t overdo it with this and it feels like a mini massage each time and it will leave you feeling so relaxed. This also works well with cleansing oils to really get in there and remove the leftover makeup, cleansing gels, balms or creams. It makes any cleanser (except those with clay or scrubby bits) work that much harder to truly cleanse skin without leaving it red like it does when you use a brush. You can also use this to help your skincare products absorb better! If you forgot to use it when cleansing you can turn it on to the slower setting and run over skin after applying your serums, oils, and moisturizers to help absorb in a way that the push and press technique never could.

When I first started using the device I found the curved shape to be strange and how you had to work to maneuver the device around in different ways to get each nook and cranny, but with time that becomes second nature and you don’t think about it at all. Suitable for all skin types, the Luna Mini 2 helps with breakouts, blackheads, dry skin, uneven skin tone and more. I read that a few people experience ‘purging’ at first when using this, but I never did so can’t comment on that.

  • The brush head is not replaceable so you have to keep it clean and you can’t afford to damage it.
  • You can’t interchange brush heads.

How to Clean Foreo Luna Mini 2

To keep clean simply wash it with soap and water after each use, the silicone is antibacterial too and very sturdy. The device is also completely waterproof which means you can store it in the shower without batting an eye. But better not to, as it might accidentally fall down and get damaged. I always air dry my Foreo before putting it back into its case to avoid getting it in contact with dust. The small size is also great for travel and it’s super light too.

FYI: Because the soft bristles are made from silicone, you can’t use cleansers or facial scrubs that have silicone, clay or sandy grains in them or they will damage the silicone of the bristles. So a soft, creamy facial cleanser or facial scrub is best.

My Verdict

Overall, I can say with honesty that this is probably one of the best Facial Cleansing Brushes that I have ever used for my skincare routine! I really like the various intensities. Easy to hold and clean. No brushes to change. I love the fact that it’s 100% waterproof so I don’t have to worry about it getting wet.

I’m the biggest FOREO fan and I am determined to own everything that they make. Their packaging is so gorgeous and clean it reminds me of Apple products.
